Take your rare plant collection to legendary status with the ultra-coveted Monstera Bulbasaur. First discovered in China, this rare Monstera deliciosa sport is named after its signature mottled, pixelated leaf patterning that calls to mind the iconic pop-culture creature. Unlike traditional blocky or half-moon variegation, 'Bulbasaur' delivers a captivating mosaic pattern of mint green, warm cream, silver, and lime green specks and patches scattered across thick, deep emerald foliage.

This well-rooted specimen arrives fully established with healthy, active growth nodes. Known among collectors for having exceptional vigor compared to other variegated Monsteras, Monstera 'Bulbasaur' develops dramatic fenestrations and thick, sculptural leaves as it scales a moss pole or support totem.

Key Features & Highlights

  • Unique Camo-Style Mosaic Variegation: Intricate, multi-tonal marbling of mint, silver, cream, and deep green that produces a distinct, one-of-a-kind pattern on every leaf.

  • Fully Established Specimen: Thoroughly rooted with active growth, skipping the high-risk unrooted propagation phase.

  • Robust Growth & Vigor: Highly stable variegation pattern with excellent leaf durability and strong resistance to browning compared to delicate white cultivars.

  • Architectural Climbing Habit: Thrives when given vertical support, rewarding growers with larger leaves and deep fenestrations as the plant matures.

Care Guide & Growing Conditions

Parameter Recommended Care
Light Bright, indirect light; strong indirect light maintains high-contrast mint and cream variegation without burning leaves.
Watering Water thoroughly when the top 2–3 inches of soil feel dry; allow moderate drying between waterings to protect root health.
Soil Mix Chunky, fast-draining aroid mix (coarse orchid bark, pumice, perlite, coco chips, and horticultural charcoal).
Humidity Thrives best in 60%+ relative humidity; adapts well to standard household humidity with adequate light.
Temperature Warm tropical grower; prefers temperatures between 65°F and 85°F (18°C to 29°C). Keep strictly protected from cold drafts.

Monstera Genus

Monstera is a genus of tropical plants native to the Americas, recognized for their unique, fenestrated leaves. These fenestrations allow light to pass through to lower leaves, optimizing sunlight exposure with minimal energy investment.

Monsteras are highly adaptable plants, with the ability to grow as climbing vines or remain terrestrial. They produce flowers and fruit in their natural habitat, however, indoor-grown Monsteras rarely bloom.

Monstera Care

Monstera plants thrive in bright, indirect light or dappled sunlight. They can adapt to lower light conditions, but this will slow growth and reduce variegation. Regular feeding every 4 to 8 weeks during the growing season is ideal, with a reduced schedule in cooler months.

These climbing plants benefit from a moss pole or similar support to encourage vertical growth. Monstera do best with regular watering in well-draining potting mix that incorporates perlite or bark to ensure good aeration. Keep them in temperatures between 70-90°F (21-32°C) for optimal growth.
