Monstera Genus

Monstera is a genus of tropical plants native to the Americas, recognized for their unique, fenestrated leaves. These fenestrations allow light to pass through to lower leaves, optimizing sunlight exposure with minimal energy investment.

Monsteras are highly adaptable plants, with the ability to grow as climbing vines or remain terrestrial. They produce flowers and fruit in their natural habitat, however, indoor-grown Monsteras rarely bloom.

Monstera Care

Monstera plants thrive in bright, indirect light or dappled sunlight. They can adapt to lower light conditions, but this will slow growth and reduce variegation. Regular feeding every 4 to 8 weeks during the growing season is ideal, with a reduced schedule in cooler months.

These climbing plants benefit from a moss pole or similar support to encourage vertical growth. Monstera do best with regular watering in well-draining potting mix that incorporates perlite or bark to ensure good aeration. Keep them in temperatures between 70-90°F (21-32°C) for optimal growth.
