Command attention in your plant display with the extraordinary Hoya Meredithii Round Leaf Mother Plant. Highly prized by rare hoya connoisseurs, this spectacular variant stands out for its massive, dinner-plate-worthy foliage featuring a rounded leaf geometry and a bold, intricate network of dark green, high-contrast webbed venation over a lighter lime-green backdrop.

Offered as a mature Mother Plant, this specimen features a robust, fully established root system and strong, well-lignified vines loaded with active nodes. It creates an immediate, high-impact structural display when trained on a sturdy support trellis and serves as a premier, high-yield stock plant for taking top-quality propagation cuttings.

Key Features & Highlights

  • Dramatic Veined Foliage: Unusually large, rounded leaves boasting deep green lattice-like veins and rigid, corrugated leaf texture.

  • Collector-Grade Mother Specimen: Fully rooted with mature, hardened stems and active nodes—skipping the slow rooting phase.

  • Fragrant Star Blooms: Capable of producing dense clusters of fragrant, waxy yellow-to-cream star flowers under bright lighting.

  • Resilient Epiphytic Nature: Thick, sturdy leaf structure provides natural water storage for manageable indoor maintenance.

Care Guide & Growing Conditions

Parameter Recommended Care
Light Bright, indirect light; strong indirect light promotes larger leaf expansion and richer vein definition.
Watering Allow the potting medium to dry out 60–70% between waterings to ensure robust root health.
Soil Mix Chunky, fast-draining epiphytic mix (coarse orchid bark, pumice, perlite, and charcoal).
Humidity Thrives in 55%+ relative humidity; adapts smoothly to standard indoor home air.
Temperature Prefers warm indoor temperatures between 68°F and 85°F (20°C to 29°C). Keep protected from cold drafts.

Hoya Genus

The Hoya genus, encompassing over 500 species, is a diverse and fascinating group of tropical plants within the Apocynaceae family. Native to various regions across Asia, Australia, and the Pacific islands, Hoyas are predominantly evergreen perennial creepers or vines, though some species can also grow as shrubs. They often grow epiphytically on trees, using adventitious roots to climb, but can also be found growing terrestrially or in rocky areas.

Hoya plants are characterized by their simple, succulent leaves arranged in an opposite pattern, which vary greatly in size, texture, color, and venation.

One of the most striking features of Hoya plants is their flowers, which are typically star-shaped and waxy, appearing in clusters. Flower colors range widely from white and pink to yellow, orange, dark red, near-black, and even green, often accompanied by a sweet fragrance and abundant nectar production.

Hoya Care

Hoyas do best in bright, indirect light and well-draining soil, such as a mix designed for orchids or cacti. They prefer to be slightly root-bound, so repot only when absolutely necessary to avoid excess moisture, which can lead to root rot. Water sparingly, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings, and ensure good air circulation around the plant. Hoyas are generally resistant to pests but keep an eye out for mealybugs, which may appear on the undersides of leaves or along stems.
